Nordic Folkboat | Nordisk folkbåt3D Model
In 1941, the Nordic Sailing Federation held a design competition for a new recreational keelboat which was to be built using wooden clinker construction. No winner was announced, but Tord Sundén was tasked with finalising the design on the basis of the best entries. The first Folkboat was launched in the following year and it was later built in fibreglass versions. The design, which has been described as a “nautical Volswagen Beetle”, emphasises practicality and seaworthiness and is still a common sight in Scandinavian waters.
